In Professor Cleveland’s Civ Pro class, we learned about the effort of the Immigration Clinic at Yale Law, led by Harold Koh, to free Haitian refugees that were being detained by the U.S. government at Guantanamo Bay in the early ‘90s (McNary v. Haitian Refugee Center).

Koh guest-lectured one of our final classes last semester and spent a fair amount of time discussing his commitment to Human Rights and urging us to follow the Yale team’s lead in our legal careers. In light of all of this, I was particularly interested to read about the student protests over Koh (now a scholar-in-residence at NYU Law) providing legal justification for the use of government drone strikes.

His political compromises aside, I thought that the initiative of the NYU Law students to voice their disapproval and demand more of their faculty might be of interest to us.
