I want a worthwhile career that will allow me to be independent and empowered. By the end of college I had narrowed my potential paths to marketing, writing, education, and law. I decided to apply to law school because I thought the education would help me become more effective and would help position me to pursue opportunities.

By the end of college I had narrowed my potential paths to marketing, writing, education, and law. More broadly, I wanted a worthwhile career that would allow me to be independent and empowered. I chose law because I enjoy grappling with moral and intellectual issues, I am compelled by the conviction that defending our rights and freedoms is a noble endeavor, and I believe that the training and credentials of a law degree will provide me with more and greater life opportunities. I try to remind myself of these reasons when I wonder why I came to law school.
