Reasons for using OpenSourceSoftware include cost-efficiency, technological autonomy, customization, and security, among others. This paper will explore how government-sanctioned use of OpenSourceSoftware affects IntellectualPropertyRights? and creates an environment that is more conducive to innovation, technological diffusion, and liberalization of the knowledge commons.
