Before this (law school), I didn’t know much about the law. I knew that it controlled me in many ways. I knew that it could be my friend or it could make me suffer. Yet I couldn’t say anything very meaningful about it at all. That bothered me. My most genuine hope in law school is to acquire a trusted voice. Over time, I hope to be inspired to use this voice in specific areas and ways. But such speech seems useless unless I can first trust my judgment and others trust it enough to be willing to listen.
