Life in the Cubes
There's nothing that makes you feel less human than a job where you sit in a cubicle all day and watch the minutes slowly tick by. When work comes across your desk, it’s just busy work – putting numbers in spreadsheets, filling out a meaningless report, or fighting by email with a person you will never meet about a few thousand dollars. Thinking, not just thinking about what number goes where, but actual thinking, the kind you learned in college, is rarely required. My escape from this easy, but ultimately unrewarding path began when I started studying for the LSAT in the handicapped bathroom near my cubicle. Law school is the chance to choose a new direction for myself, a challenging new path that will engage me and allow me to fight for what I hold dear. |
