Safety in the courtroom

Just an interesting observation--I was on jury duty the week after Judge
Barnes in Atlanta got shot and one of the jury pools I sat on had a violent
defendant (2 counts of armed robbery). No less than 8 police were in the
room with him, 4 of whom were standing directly behind defendant, who was
in handcuffed. The courtroom looked like a fortress, to the point I think
it made jurors a little uneasy to be there.
