Venture Planned for Wireless Internet Link

Expanding from cable modems to the airwaves, the Excite@Home Corporation announced a venture Tuesday with Airflash Inc., a small private company based in Redwood City, Calif., to deliver Internet information using wireless links.

Excite@Home, which was formed by the acquisition of the Excite Web portal by the At Home cable modem venture, has agreed to work with Airflash exclusively in developing wireless services, an Excite@Home spokeswoman said.

"Our relationship with Airflash will accelerate our ability to partner quickly and effectively with wireless carriers to bring the best of the Web to their customers," Joe Kraus, Excite@Home's senior vice president for content, said in a statement. "These steps continue our focus on providing our customers with the best personalized content wherever they are by whatever means they choose."

Excite@Home and Airflash, which is developing technology to deliver digital information without wires, intend to develop personalized information services for wireless communications carriers.
